WHAT TO EXPECT:
History and drinking have always gone hand in hand in Sydney.
While some convicts brewed beer in secret, RUM was ultimately the currency of the early colony and no good story started without it.
Rum ruined lives but it also built hospitals.
Rum could dry up your every penny but it could also make you filthy rich.
Best of all, rum got you drunk and that was about the only time when Sydney’s bizarre convict colony seemed to make sense.
Join Journey Walks on a sunset swagger that shares the notorious history and debaucherous tales behind the sailors, soldiers, convicts and colonists who would do anything for a drop of the good stuff.
Not only will we talk through the tipsy tales of the drunken colony, we will visit the very pubs and hubs that Sydney’s early scallywags got up to their tricks.
Samplings of beer and rum along the way will no doubt help us relate to the rascals we recall and bring out the best that The Rocks has to offer!
