HIGHLIGHTS
This tour will connect you to the stories, structures and secrets of Millers Point over the course of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Your historian guide will animate the curious characters that once called this place home such as Jack ‘The Miller’ Leighton, an ex-convict who operated three windmills on ‘the point’ until he was mysteriously found dead beside of them in the 1820s . Other local legends include rum-smuggling tunnels, unsolved murders and the criminal code of a cut-throat street gang known as The Millers Point Mob.
Millers Point is loaded with the charm of Sydney’s maritime past. It has witnessed great changes, both culturally and architecturally over its long and chequered history.
Through vivid storytelling, historic imagery and hidden artefacts, we will connect with this past and rediscover the important role it played as a centre of shipping and trade.
